Australia raises the bar

During the past week, I am very proud to say, Australia show-cased a array of ʻgood news stories.ʼ For example the music industry celebrated the extraordinary talent of our composers, musicians, songwriters and singers in a wonderful production of the Aria Awards on Thursday evening 26 November. The music scene is awesome in Australia these days and so is the level of talent that documents, produces and records the unique stories, challenges, performances and successes that are currently raising the bar in Australia. Bravo!

Rootstock Sydney is another wonderful example. It is ʻa unique, collaborative not-for- profit sustainable food and wine festivalʼ held at Carriageworks, Redfern on 28 - 29 November. A low key, inspiring and thoughtfully produced event displaying the diverse talents of many food and wine artisans. The sophistication, efficacy and authenticity of Australiaʼs sustainable wine and food industry is blossoming in a truly inspiring way. It is so pleasing to know our food and wine industry is in the hands of many very gifted individuals who genuinely care about sustainability and the quality of the produce.

Also, Australians united to send a very strong message to our government conveying the urgency many feel pertaining to environmental degradation and climate change. Within the past few days, many thousands of people turned out in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and elsewhere to send a clear message; our air, land, and sea cannot and should not be sold off and/or further compromised for financial gain. The wellbeing of humanity and the survival of life on earth depends upon our united commitment to stand up for what is right and protect our natural resources. Some assets are irreplaceable and deserve to be respected and truly valued.

Speaking for myself, BRAVO AUSTRALIA! Thank you so very much to all those who are thoughtfully doing your best to make Australia a country to be truly proud of. If we make the effort to deliver wise decisions now we will contribute to a more prosperous, innovative, wise and intelligent population who will enjoy the natural wealth only a healthy environment can generate. One in which our children, grandchildren and future generations will find themselves in a more joyous, prosperous and peaceful world.
